What is Language Bazaar? Language Bazaar is an inductive puzzle game designed to teach the players the Hangul writing system without the use of explicit instruction. The game was made to aid in the research of our Thesis "Replacing Instruction with Discovery: Understanding the Impact of Inductive Gameplay on Hangul Writing System Acquisition"
A more detailed description... The game has the player manage a bazaar, selling all sorts of weird knick-knacks. Customers then come up to the player and ask for some items, though when they ask for items it is all written in Hangul. They speak English but written in Hangul.
The game was made to research the effects an inductive style puzzle game would have for the purpose of education. Inductive learning is the process of learning without explicit instruction, and we try to use this to teach the Korean writing system, Hangul, to the player, this means that there are no direct translations or instructions that enable the player to understand.
